VGGFace2: A dataset for recognising faces across pose and age
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we introduce a new large-scale face dataset named VGGFace2. The dataset contains 3.31 million images of 9131 subjects, with an average of 362.6 images for each subject. Images are downloaded from Google Image Search and have large variations in pose, age, illumination, ethnicity and profession (e.g. actors, athletes, politicians). The dataset was collected with three goals in mind: (i) to have both a large number of identities and also a large number of images for each identity; (ii) to cover a large range of pose, age and ethnicity; and (iii) to minimise the label noise. We describe how the dataset was collected, in particular the automated and manual filtering stages to ensure a high accuracy for the images of each identity. To assess face recognition performance using the new dataset, we train ResNet-50 (with and without Squeeze-andExcitation blocks) Convolutional Neural Networks on VGGFace2, on MS-Celeb-1M, and on their union, and show that training on VGGFace2 leads to improved recognition performance over pose and age. Finally, using the models trained on these datasets, we demonstrate state-of-the-art performance on the IJB-A and IJB-B face recognition benchmarks, exceeding the previous state-of-the-art by a large margin. The dataset and models are publicly available. Keywords-face dataset; face recognition; convolutional neural networks

Recognising Partially Occluded Faces From a Video
Extensive research on video based face recognition has been carried out by researchers in the recent years as security is a major concern in today’s world. Performing a comparison of face recognition with a still face and upon a video, video is given more importance as it can give more information to the user compared with still face image. Even though video can provide widespread information o...
متن کاملRecognising Trajectories of Facial Identities Using Kernel Discriminant Analysis
We present a comprehensive approach to address three challenging problems in face recognition: modelling faces across multi-views, extracting the nonlinear discriminating features, and recognising moving faces dynamically in image sequences. A multi-view dynamic face model is designed to extract the shape-and-pose-free facial texture patterns. Kernel discriminant analysis, which employs the ker...
متن کاملRecognising the ageing face: the role of age in face processing.
The effect of age-induced changes on face recognition were investigated as a means of exploring the role of age in the encoding of new facial memories. The ability of participants to recognise each of six previously learnt faces was tested with versions which were either identical to the learnt faces, the same age (but different in pose and expression), or younger or older in age. Participants ...

In video surveillance, the viewing angle of face with respect to camera, called angular occlusion (also referred to as head pose) will limit system’s ability in face recognition. In this paper, a method for angular occlusion elimination in face images is proposed, which is based on image morphing. The proposed method models a frontal face from a batch of images with different head poses b...
متن کاملA meta-analytic review of emotion recognition and aging: implications for neuropsychological models of aging.
This meta-analysis of 28 data sets (N=705 older adults, N=962 younger adults) examined age differences in emotion recognition across four modalities: faces, voices, bodies/contexts, and matching of faces to voices. The results indicate that older adults have increased difficulty recognising at least some of the basic emotions (anger, sadness, fear, disgust, surprise, happiness) in each modality...
